Community day offers something for everyone

The Community Day is a chance to come and meet the local Policing team

A mobile climbing wall, cow pat throwing and a country market are just some of the events taking place at a Community Day being held for residents of Chobham, Windlesham, Lightwater, Bisley, Bagshot and West End on Saturday, 13 March.

The Six Villages Community Day is a chance to come and meet the local policing team as well as other local agencies, including Surrey Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance, with events also including bike maintenance, Kiddi Karts, an appearance by the Neighbourhood Watch crime prevention trailer, fairground rides, laser tag and a rodeo bull. A showcase arena will feature dancing and judo, and parkour (free running) workshops will be taking place throughout the day.

All this activity is bound to make visitors peckish, so there will also be stalls offering a variety of refreshments, as well as a barbecue run by the local Scouts.

Free mini buses to the event, which will be held at the Streets Heath recreation ground in Benner Lane, West End, from 10am to 3pm, will run from a variety of locations. Look out for specially marked bus stops at Windsor Court Road in Chobham, outside the Kings Arms in Bagshot, outside the Sun pub in Windlesham, The Base in Guildford Road, Bisley, and the bus stop by the memorial in Guildford Road, Lightwater.

Lightwater Police Community Support Officer Maria Budd said: “Myself and the PCSOs from the other villages have organised the event, in conjunction with our partner agencies, to engage with the local community and get to know local residents better. We have received huge support in planning the event, with funding provided by a variety of agencies and we would like to thank everybody who has contributed. We are encouraging as many visitors as possible to attend the community day and make it a huge success.”
